Privacy Notice
This notice explains what data earlycollegelhs.com collects when you visit, what we do with it, and the protections that apply because we are a program of Lorain City Schools.

1. Who we are
earlycollegelhs.com is the public website of the Early College Program at Lorain High School — a partnership between Lorain City Schools and Lorain County Community College (LCCC). We are a public K-12 program, not a commercial business.
2. What we collect from website visitors
Information you choose to send us
When you submit the contact form on this site, we receive: the name, email, phone number (optional), role (parent / student / counselor / other), and the message text you enter. This information is sent by email to program staff and stored for up to one year in an internal audit log for follow-up.
Information collected automatically
- IP address and approximate location — used by Cloudflare (our hosting provider) for security, rate-limiting, and traffic analysis.
- Browser type, operating system, referring page — standard request headers, kept in short-term server logs.
- Security cookies — Cloudflare Turnstile may set a short-lived challenge cookie to verify you are not a bot when you submit the contact form. Staff using the marketing-kit portal receive a separate
mk_authsession cookie. No third-party advertising cookies are set.
3. What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent any visitor information.
- We do not run advertising or third-party tracking pixels.
- We do not require an account to read any public page on this site.
- We do not use this website to collect student records, grades, or assessment data.
4. Student records (FERPA)
Student education records — grades, transcripts, IEPs, assessment scores, attendance — are governed by the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Ohio law. Those records are maintained by Lorain City Schools and Lorain County Community College, not by this website. For questions about your student's records, contact the Lorain City Schools Records Office or the LCCC Registrar.
5. Children's privacy
This site is designed for parents, guardians, counselors, and applicants of high-school age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 on this site. If you believe your child under 13 has submitted information through the contact form, email [email protected] and we will remove it.
6. How long we keep things
- Contact-form submissions: up to one year in our audit log, then automatically purged.
- Server access logs (handled by Cloudflare): typically 30 days, per their retention defaults.
- Marketing-kit staff sessions: 14 days from each successful login.
7. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Show you what contact-form data we have about you.
- Correct anything inaccurate.
- Delete it (we will, unless we are required to keep it for an open conversation or legal reason).
Email [email protected] with the request. We respond within a reasonable time frame for a public school program.
8. Security
The site is served exclusively over HTTPS with HSTS preload enforcement. Form submissions are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile bot detection and per-IP rate limiting. Staff portals are gated by password with timing-safe verification and HTTP-only cookies.
9. Changes to this notice
If we update this notice, the "last reviewed" date above will change. Material changes will be summarized at the top of the page for at least 30 days.
